Co-founder & Managing Director

José Cavaco

José leads Integritas operationally and is responsible for technical execution and project delivery.

An experienced engineer and construction professional, José brings deep knowledge of the Algarve construction sector, the practical realities of site delivery and an established network of trusted subcontractors, suppliers and specialist professionals.

He understands not only how projects should be designed, but how they are delivered on the ground: planning the work, sequencing trades, coordinating specialists and solving the inevitable challenges that arise during construction.

Having spent years delivering projects from within the industry, José believed there was an opportunity to create a different kind of construction company — one that combines technical capability with clearer commitments, better communication and a more accountable client experience.

Joe McCaughran

Joe brings senior executive leadership, commercial discipline, governance and accountability from a career in highly regulated financial services.

His professional background has been built around managing complex decisions, risk, governance, financial discipline and clear accountability — disciplines directly relevant to the way significant construction projects should be run.

Joe also brings the perspective of an international homeowner who has lived through a major Algarve construction project as the client.

Having seen what was often missing in the client experience, Joe agreed with José that their combined perspectives could create something better.

Why we came together

We saw the same opportunity from different sides of the build.

José saw it from inside the construction industry. Joe experienced it first-hand from the client side.

Technical construction capability is essential, but it is not enough on its own. Clients also need clear expectations, visible progress, realistic commitments, honest conversations and confidence that somebody is genuinely accountable for delivery.

Integritas was created because we believe the client experience can be better — more professional, more transparent and more centred on the people who are entrusting us with their home, investment and plans for the future.

We are not trying to work with everyone. We would rather work with fewer clients, build deeper relationships and take greater responsibility for the outcome.

Integritas is deliberately not designed around volume. A carefully managed number of projects means greater attention, stronger relationships, better oversight and clearer accountability.

This is central to the way we want to work: fewer clients, deeper relationships, more thoughtful communication and a genuine commitment to doing what we say we will do.
